General Information

The ceremony is on the lawn at the Skyland Lodge. From the parking lot, walk around the building and down the hill to see our site.

Please plan to be seated at 3:50 PM, so we can begin the ceremony promptly at 4:00 PM.

The ceremony should be less than 30 minutes, then after some transition time to get to the reception space, staff will be prepared to host you for a cocktail hour before the reception starts.

The reception will be at the Conference Center building near the Lodge. You can either follow signs to walk down the paved path, or drive from the main buildings to the parking spaces near your hotel room.

The ceremony is planned to be outdoors, but, in the event of inclement weather, we will host it indoors. The reception will be indoors and end the night with an outdoor bonfire and s’mores!

Yes! We have an amazing day-of coordinator who is helping to facilitate the event and make sure everyone has a blast, rain or shine.

Travel and Accommodation

Yes! See the Travel page for more information on our hotel block at Skyland Resort.

Parking is available for free at the Resort for guests at the lodge.

The Travel page has more details on this! The closest airports are Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Unfortunately if you’ve made it to Dallas on the day of the ceremony it is very unlikely that we’ll see you in time for dinner. We hope you enjoy Texas and have a safe flight home!

No, unfortunately with so many guests coming from so many places it would be nearly impossible to coordinate a shuttle from NoVA to the venue.

There are rental car counters for Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and several other rental car companies at IAD, DCA, and Union Station.

Dress Code and Attire

Dress code is cocktail attire, but don’t stress, just look sharp. Think midi to long dresses, dressy jumpsuits, suits or sport coats and slacks.

As long as you’re not wearing white, we’re not picky about colors. Just focus on looking and feeling your best!

Because the ceremony will take place on the lawn at Skyland Lodge, we suggest choosing shoes that are suitable for walking on grass.

Photography and Social Media

Since we’re hiring a photographer for the event, we ask that you let them work their magic and leave documenting the ceremony to the professionals! During the reception, you are welcome to take as many photos as you’d like.

Yes! We will do our best to share photos from the event with our guests as soon as we get them.

Neither of us can remember the last time we used a hashtag, so hit us up if you have a good idea for one.

Accessibility

Yes! The park has ramps, automated doors, hand rails, and other mobility aids for people who need them.

With the exception of the ceremony, which is on a grassy lawn, the event takes place in accessible buildings and spaces. The Lodge also has accessible rooms available upon request.

The reception area is very close to the Lodge rooms, which make a great place to rest and relax if needed.

Miscellaneous Asks

We’re collecting song requests in advance… consult your best playlists and let us know what you’d like to hear!

While we recommend Google or Apple Maps as the best way to get yourself to the venue, feel free to call or text us if you have an issue with directions. Pro tip: you can download a map of all of Shenandoah National Park in case you want to explore while you’re here!

No, we’d like to make sure all our guests are enjoying the moment and fully present when they celebrate with us. No phones or cameras are necessary!

Unfortunately not… Jamie’s rendition of Cher’s “Dark Lady” will have to wait for the afters. But, we’ll have a great DJ who will keep the good times rolling all night long.
