Getting Here

We are so excited to celebrate with you, and we’re especially grateful for the family and friends traveling from out of town to be with us on this special day. We’ve compiled some information to make your journey as safe, easy, and enjoyable as possible.

Please note that opportunities to rideshare outside of the greater DC area will be virtually nonexistent. We encourage families and friends to coordinate travel together and share a rental car whenever possible.

If you’re in need of a carpool or you’re a solo traveler looking for other riders, let us know and we can put you in touch.

From Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Dulles Airport is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Skyland Resort. There are several rental car options and easy access to I-66, US-29, and other highway options to get to the park entrances. Dulles is also connected to the Metro Silver Line, which will take you into DC if you’re interested.

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

DCA is about 2 hours and 10 minutes from Skyland Resort. There are several offsite rental car options with shuttles from the airport, and there are connections to I-395, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, and I-66. DCA is also connected to Metro’s Blue and Yellow lines into DC.

From Washington Union Station (Amtrak)

For our New Yorkers, Bostonians, and other guests choosing to take the train to DC, Union Station is 2 hours and 20 minutes from Skyland by car. There are rental car counters with most major rental companies, and I-66 will take you from downtown DC straight to the park entrance in Front Royal, VA.

Tips for Your Trip

  • Plan for extra time in case you encounter Northern Virginia’s famous traffic!
  • Skyline Drive is a scenic, winding road with plenty of overlooks with parking and trailheads. Take your time and enjoy the view!
  • Shenandoah is full of wildlife, especially active around sunrise and sunset. If you’re on the road, take extra caution and watch for animals!
  • Fuel up in advance – opportunities to get gas in the park are very limited.
